EXPERIENCE

Built by Margaret Anderson in 1912 on land developed by Burton Green, the hotel was the first major structure in the area and was named after Green’s home in Beverly Farms, Massachusetts. Upon approach, guests see the hotel’s signature pink facade in Mission Revival style, and the unmistakable bell towers. Architect Paul Williams added the Crescent Wing in 1949. On December 30, 1992, the hotel closed for a complete restoration, which lasted two and one-half years and cost over $100 million. The hotel reopened on June 3, 1995.

Since the early 20th century, The Beverly Hills Hotel has been the spot where Hollywood legends socialized by the pool or romanced the night away in cozy private bungalows, while studio moguls and Wall Street financiers consummated deals in the Polo Lounge. The hotel offers the ambiance of a relaxed resort with lush, fragrant gardens, palm-lined poolside and tennis facilities, beautiful guestrooms, and public areas reminiscent of timeless Hollywood glamour. Today, every visitor to the “Pink Palace,” as locals call it, is pampered like a star. What makes The Beverly Hills Hotel stand out is its superlative combination of service, a location that offers guests all the privacy they want in the heart of a city, and a refreshed facility that, while faithful to the Hotel’s architectural and interior design traditions, is more dramatically beautiful than ever.

Featuring 204 guestrooms and suites, including 21 one-of-a-kind bungalows. All have at least three telephones, two of which have two-line speaker capability; direct private phone, Internet access; and a fax machine with computer printer and copy capabilities. There are two televisions, including one in the bathroom, featuring a digital interactive entertainment system; a CD/cassette stereo system; mini-bar; butler service button and in-room safes. Each guest room features an oversized walk-in closet, a sitting area with an oval desk in the style of 1940s French designer Jacques Grange, a sleeping area, and state- of-the-art soundproofing applied to all guest room walls, ceilings, floors and stairways. About a third of the rooms also offer balconies, fireplaces, terraces or patios.

Rooms are designed to feel spacious, timeless, and comfortably elegant. Distinct Beverly Hills accents, a subdued palette of greens, pinks, apricots and yellows, are used throughout. All furnishings have been custom designed for the hotel. They include an armoire, slip-covered or English-style sofas, tufted stools at the foot of the bed, canopied beds, comforters made with matelese fabric, velvet throw pillows and art work. Every room is unique, with different patterns, fabrics, hues, draperies, and textures. Suites of special interest: Sunset Suite, next to the Sunset Lounge, has a private entrance, living area with baby grand piano, fireplace and a 2,000 square foot balcony; the historic Paul Williams suite, now immaculately restored to its former elegance, and the Presidential Suite, a 2,500-square foot suite with private entrance, an adjoining commercially-equipped kitchen; personal 24-hour Chef and Butler; Jacuzzi bath with separate his and her’s showers; and treadmill.

The 21 bungalows at The Beverly Hills Hotel are like individual homes, each with separate entrances, living rooms, dining rooms, wood-burning fireplaces, and a different configuration and decor, including one-of-a-kind furnishings and luxury materials such as granite and marble. Many of the bungalow suites have pianos, Jacuzzi tubs, silk bathrobes and treadmills. Many also have interesting histories: Liz Taylor honeymooned with six of her eight husbands in the bungalows, and Marilyn Monroe and Marlene Dietrich, among others, bunked in bungalows. Bungalow 5, the four-bedroom Presidential Bungalow, offers a private lap pool built in 1991 for frequent guest Walter Annenberg.

The moment you enter your room at The Beverly Hills Hotel you will see that every expectation of comfort, efficiency and beauty has been fulfilled. Their goal is to ensure that every need has been anticipated and no detail overlooked.

Each of the beautiful suites is individually furnished to give it its own unique character. Most come with fireplaces, private patios and terraces. Their magnificent pool is a private haven for guests, with all-day dining readily available at the poolside Cabaña Cafe. For additional privacy, you may want to retreat into one of the surrounding Cabañas, each one with television, phone and fax.

There is a fitness center with all the latest equipment, so that you can maintain your workout regimen while you are their guest. Unique to the hotel are the tennis courts, with tennis pros available to help you perfect your game.
